Wooster Square Cherry Blossoms!

Pink Nation turns 4 Years Old!
(Hughes Place April 26, 2011 Peak)

Yes, the WSBB was hatched by my wife Cheryl in 2011.  The Szczarba's, Realtors (Cheryl and her Mom) have been the leading sponsors for the Wooster Square Cherry Blossom Festival for many years.  So...as an aside to the Cherry Blossom Festival co-chair, Charlie Murphy, Cheryl said why doesn't her husband (Me) take photos
of the Cherry Blossoms Blooming
everyday and post them on a blog.

This way, people will know exactly when they peak as well as be a part of the process of experiencing spring and our Blossoms, in a new and exciting way.

Now the WSBB is published about twice a month during off peak times. The Wooster Square Blossom Blog publishes almost daily from start to finish when our Sweet Square Sakura's are Blossoming. How is this possible? Anything is possible in the Wonderful World of Wooster Square. You'll also find all you need to know about World Famous New Haven Style Pizza and all 7 of the top 100 pies in the United States, 3 in the top 12, right here in New Haven Connecticut USA!

In case you missed the report it recap from New Haven's WTNH and some of the photographers,

+Chris Velardi , co-anchor of Good Morning Connecticut who did this story, just had
his last day on Friday for bigger and better things.
Good luck Chris and thanks for reporting
for 15 years at Channel 8. I wonder how many Pepe's or Sally's pies he has consumed over that time?

And, as a bonus, we will hear from around the world about the spring that is going on down south and in the Northwest. Vancouver BC? Seems like it should be colder in Canada, eh?

Spring Sprung inside!

Vancouver is enjoying an early spring,
and that means Cherry Blossoms!

Vancouver takes their Blossoms seriously!

Not to be outdone, Portland has it's
own Cherry Blossoms and it is
spring there too!

Washington DC's Cherry Blossoms are getting ready take the spotlight.
The National Park Service
predicts that theirs will peak
April 11-14.

I'll bet you I'd eat my hat if you can guess what the connection between New Haven's Cherry Blossoms  and Washington DC's Sweet Sakura's.

It was none other than a New Haven Resident's wife,
who had the Cherry Trees Planted.

Give up?

First Lady and New Haven Resident,
Mrs. Helen Taft!

Wooster Square's Blossoms
are scheduled to be
peaking around April 26th.

Maybe at some point you are thinking...
all this for Cherry Blossoms?!?

Well... check out Japan!

The Japanese invented Hanami and really
know how to do it best!

Saki + Sakura Blossoms = Hanami Happiness!

Of course, the Japanese have been
at this for thousands of years.

They even have a trending chart,
a history of blossoms for 10 years.

If that is not enough, Japanese Botanists have located the Holy Grail of Sakura Trees.
One Tree whose descendants of this Yoshino
Cherry Tree we all admire today, still stands.

Read here in asahi about this ancient tree! Seeing is believing!

And like last posts, there are all sorts
of companies jumping on the
Cherry Blossom Bandwagon!

Like Lindt Chocolates!

so you can wash down some

Sakura flavored Macaroons

If that isn't all enough pink and white delights?

Reebok and Adidas have their own
Cherry Blossom Sneakers!
